Picking the type of extensions best suited for yourself and your clients may be confusing at first, and you do not want to make a bad investment. You may be wondering, which lash thickness should I pick? What curls should I use? Is it safe to use any lash length on all clients? Do not fret. We have made sure to guide you through the choices so you can make the best decision for you when picking your eyelash extensions.

Mayfair VS Chelsea

Is there a huge difference between these lashes? In short, yes. Depending on the finish you and your client desire for the final result, these lashes can offer a huge difference and a very specific final look. Our Mayfair collection is stunning in its bold, dramatic and shiny finish. While our Chelsea range will give your clients a very sultry, semi-matte soft finish.

Mayfair and Chelsea Eyelash Extensions by London Lash EULASH THICKNESSES AND WHEN TO USE THEM

While this may seem like a confusing part of the process, picking your lash thickness is actually a lot easier than it may seem. Our collection of lashes carries specific thicknesses for Volume Lashes and specific thicknesses for Classic Lashes.

Classic Lashes provide a more natural look for clients, they give a little bit of extra thickness compared to the natural lash, but the over all look is more subtle, elongated and refreshing. Classic Lashes is the process of applying individual lash extensions to every single natural lash.

Classic Lashes range from 0.10 up to 0.20 in thickness.

  • 0.10 Lashes are very light weight and are best used for 'nude' natural looks. They are great for clients with thin natural lashes who desire to create the effect of having thicker and longer lashes.
  • 0.12 Lashes will give a mascara effect. They're super flattering and a very safe choice for all types of lashes.
  • 0.15 Lashes are slightly thicker. These lashes will give the client a darker mascara effect - though this look is still on the natural side, it brings a little bit more drama to the eye.
  • 0.18 Lashes are much bolder. Using these lash thickness the effect will be, thicker and heavier.
  • 0.20 Lashes are the heaviest lash. Because of this, only ever use these lashes on clients who have thick and strong natural lashes. These lashes will bring out a dramatic and bold impactful effect. To avoid damage to natural lashes, do not use these lashes on clients with thin natural lashes.

London Lash Classic Set of Lash Extensions- WHAT ARE FLAT LASHES?

Flat Lashes are the gifts that will keep on giving. Flat lashes are similar to Classic lashes but can help clients with short, thin lashes. These lashes will give the desired drama but they are not as heavy as 0.18 or 0.20 Classic lashes. Flat Lashes are lightweight, they weigh about half of that of a Classic lash. For example, 0.20 Flat Lash is about the same weight as a 0.12 Classic Lash but it will give a thicker lash line due to their flat base. The best part is, Flat Lashes are available in thicknesses ranging from 0.15 to 0.25 so you can create any desired look with half the lash weight.

London Lash Flat Lashes for Lash Extensions- WHAT ARE VOLUME LASHES?

Volume lashes range from 0.03 up to 0.07, depending on the finishing look you are trying to achieve, will determine the thickness you choose. Volume Lashes are extensions stuck together to form a fan, these lashes are two or more lashes which create a fan ready to be attached to an individual natural lash. This is where the 'volume' comes from. We refer to fans as 'D' for example 2D is two eyelash extensions fanned together, 8D is eight lash extensions, and so on.  We’ve written a separate blog post explaining which thickness and ‘D’ to use and when, so be sure to have a little read for a more in depth breakdown.

  • 0.07 are ideal for fans 2D up to 6D
  • 0.06 are perfect for fans up to 8D (these extensions are only available in our Mayfair range)
  • 0.05 lashes sit comfortably between Volume and Mega Volume lashes, so can be used up to 12D
  • 0.04 lashes can be used for fans up to 19D  (these extensions are only available in our Chelsea range)
  • 0.03 lashes can be used for fans up to a massive 35D ( these extensions are only available in our Mayfair range)

London Lash Volume Lash extensionsNOW, ABOUT LASH CURLS…

Countless numbers of Lash Curls have been made, but only a select few have stood the test of time and are for this reason some of the favourites used by Lash Techs. The most popular and commonly used are C, CC and D curls. These curls are used on most clients.

  • C Curls - The curl that is one of the most popular and widely used. These curls are often best suited for inner corner and flatter almost any client. C curls will give that extra lift but not overly dramatic.
  • CC Curls - Used in a similar way to C curls, these curls are flattering on every client. CC curls are not overly curly so when it grows out with the natural lash it does not become annoying, nor is it too flat that it looks strange as it grows out. Mixing C and CC curls across the eye is a common practice for some of the best results.
  • D Curls - These curls are also a regular choice in our range. D curls are the answer for all clients with downward growing lashes, this will give those clients the extra lift they crave. Using D curls on already curly lashes will not look natural and you run the risk of touching the eyelid as they grow out.

The general rule when it comes to lash lengths is not to go more than 2mm extra to that of the client's natural lash. It is also good to remember that you do not have to go longer than the natural lashes at all. Sometimes it's nice to give a fuller, fluffier look by using shorter lashes in the lash set.

However, when creating spikes for Kim K lash sets or other styles of wispy lashes, breaking this rule is okay - having a few extensions that are longer can be safe, after all it is the wispy effect you're going for.
